Life's messy baby- let's laugh at it together.
Alex,

This last week has felt stunningly right. We’ve been laughing more than usual and squeezing each others asses more frequently. We’ve implemented longer kisses and maybe even risqué text messages. Wow. Let’s make this a habit

sincerely,

your bride

If there is such a thing as marriage, it takes place long before the ceremony; in a car on the way to the airport; or as a gray bedrooms fills with dawn, one lover watching the other; or as two strangers stand together in the rain with no bus in sight, arms weighed down with shopping bags. You don’t know then. But later you realize - that was the moment.

Simon Van Booy

sweetie,

this morning i am waking up to the sound of you doing the dishes and scout watching shrek.

i can’t really explain the way my love and appreciation has grown for you over the years, but behind the bedroom door i feel it strongly in my chest.

sincerely,

your bride

Baby,

This morning you woke up at 5:30 AM, put us in the car in our P.J’s to take us on a surprise. You drove us in the dark to downtown D.C. and parked along the mall. We walked up the stairs of the Lincoln memorial and sat with our coffee at the top as we watched the sunrise over the city. It was quiet, serene and truly beautiful. We smiled at each other and talked about the fact that we aren’t taking in pictures, because we wanted to remember it just the way it happened, perfectly.

You’re amazing sweetheart. I love you.

Sincerely,

Your bride.

Sweetie,

Fighting with you sucks. I just want to cuddle up with you right now but I still feel hurt and we are too tired to talk out all our feelings right now. All you need to know is that I love you. Morning will bring new light to this.

Sincerely,

Your bride.

Baby,

I think we had a pretty great week. A week ago Sunday we went to Wilmington and went to the beach. On the way we got into a big argument and went to bed really upset. When I woke up you had a great card, a beautiful letter, flowers, and a magazine about sharks!! (proof you know me so well). We talked everything over and everything was beautiful.

On Thursday I woke up from my day sleep post my LAST night shift in charlotte. You woke me up and led me into the living room. You had decorated everything to make it look like a fiesta! There was mexican music playing, streamers, pinatas, everything!!! You made some tasty mexican food and I so appreciated that. You are so creative, fun, and romantic!

Sunday night we went to a cool church in a theatre/bar that you have been wanting to go to. “Queen City Church.” It was great to get to worship with you and enjoy some special time just you me and Scout. After that we met up with your family at a good old drive-in movie. We sat our in lawn chairs and watched the new batman music. I was getting a little hyper with all the action.

We have enjoyed the rest of this week spending time with your family. Tomorrow is our last day here in Charlotte. Then we are headed to D.C. I know that travel nursing can be stressful for you. I know that sometimes being a stay-at-home dad doesn’t fulfill you in all the ways you need. But I promise you, you provide for this family in the most important way of all. You have the hardest job- and I am so thankful that even through the most difficult job you still find time to do your homework, take care of things for us, and romance me. You really are the full package. You’re not perfect- hence all our little arguments. But if you were perfect- that would be so boring. And I would never get a shark magazine. :)

I love you baby.

Sincerely,

Your Bride.

babe,

we made it to vacation! i just got off my 12 hour night shift, scout is fussy, and this drive is 14 hours. if we haven’t killed each other by the time we get there that would be a major success.

Babe,
There are very few things in life that have ever made me feel as good as that moment did. Not sure if we’ve ever been more free.
Sincerely,
Your bride.
p.s. I’m sorry for all our arguments today.

Babe,
At this moment we are not sure what the immediate future holds. - I think this life would drive some people crazy. An existence where pretty much everything around us is a variable. We’re not sure what we’ll be doing or where we’ll be going in the very near future. Right now we’re trying to decide between staying here for a bit and heading out to the west coast- or taking an assignment in D.C. Although we were both crazy about heading out to Cali- I keep thinking about all the east coast cities we’ve yet to see. I keep dreaming of Megabus trips to NYC hostels or couchsurfing in Philly. I also miss the subway. While you take the subway everyday you never miss it, but now, oh my gosh I miss the subway. I don’t fear all this unknown. I fear a standstill. I love to evolve, to change as often as possible. That’s how we grow as humans right? As long as we have one another we’ll be fine. Where we are and how we’re exploring will change- but our love will only change through growth and discovery.
To sum this all up: we many years from now when people ask our daughter where she’s from, I may just want her to say, “oh boy, that’s a long story.”
Sincerely,
Your bride.
